Two things worried me about this block! One was that the material was very precious,so it was scary to cut and the second was that I am so old now.....oh to be 40!!!
I loved the material such soft colours, they would work well in my bedroom!.
I went to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham last week ,next year I will stay, as a day just wasn't long enough to see everything and to shop!! As always with shows you return home inspired!  I was very restrained on the shopping side as I must use the stash..but came away with gold foil, markal paint sticks, titanium needles and solufleece  ,all new to me but I am going to have a play and probably end up with a few more UFOs!!

Really enjoying the Bee!

  1. Margaret, your blocks are looking great. I feel everybody is getting very stressed about this block, you are supposed to be enjoying this experience, not worrying about cutting into the fabric, are my point perfect. I am really looking forward to getting my blocks back and making them into a quilt. Please everybody, just enjoy. I have not experience the NEC, but can't imagine a day would do it. I went to a lovely quilt exhibition in Padstow, Cornwall on Saturday. Some very inspirational work. Like you I am loving the Bee. Happy sewing. Wendy

  2. Lucky you Margaret getting to the Birmingham show again. You've bought some things I've never even heard of! It's so nice to get all that inspiration.
Yes our Bee is great and the good thing is we still have 5 months to go. I hope to get mine in the post for September in the not too distant future. Just some more cutting to do. Joanne.

  3. Hi Wendy, I think all the blocks are lovely and am hoping to do mine this weekend. Enjoying a week with my younger son and his girlfriend and, to my amazement, have actually had three days with sunshine! Yesterday was glorious and we went to St Ives which was very busy, but still beautiful. Luke hadn't been for about 10 years and had forgotten what a gem it is and relived many childhood memories! Hoping for a few more sunny days before they go back to he Midlands at the end of the week.

I think I may try and do the Birmingham quilting show next year, as only a few miles from my sons' and mum's houses so cheap accommodation for me! Jennie
